Empowering.
“I did too much yesterday. I walked 15,000 steps, did laundry, cooked, and baked. I woke up this morning with a sore back and usually I would take Advil and lay low to try to prevent my back from 'going out.' Instead, I did my Somatic exercises and voila! My back is much better and instead of losing a day I am moving. I am going to slow it down a little today but I do not have to stop.

Relieving Low Back Pain.
“Somatic movement is the only thing that has given consistent relief from my lower back pain. Before coming to see Erin, I tried many different things: physical therapy, chiropractic and even had epidural injections. To be completely honest, I was very skeptical walking into my first session of somatic movement. Erin’s energy and approach made me feel really comfortable and about half way through I began to feel a change in my back. I walked out of that first session feeling relief that continued to increase. I continued to notice less tingling and pain with more flexibility and strength. My skepticism has been relieved. Also, I really appreciate being able to do the movements anywhere without special equipment. While I am able to do many of the exercises on my own at this point, I continue to benefit from in person sessions with Erin - her energy and gentle guidance are like nothing I’ve experienced before.”

Building Self-Awareness.
“The somatic movement series has increased my awareness of certain connections in my body that I was unaware of or had previously lost. By working on rebuilding these connections, I have increased my range of motion in places, relaxed places of tension, and reduced pain in chronic aches. I have also become more aware of what habitual movements or practices cause my pain and how to avoid doing that. The class is also simply relaxing and meditative; it is a unique experience to be so focused on such small movements for one solid hour. Recalibrating the Mind & Body.
"Somatics has been a wonderful and important addition to my [self-care] tools. I have had a lot of injuries, surgeries (replaced knees/hips, etc), arthritis and overall trauma to my body over the years. My body has learned to compensate so well that I tend to be disconnected from what it should be doing. Somatics with its small deliberate movements is allowing me to recalibrate my mind and body so that I am not in as much pain and I am able to move in ways I haven't been able to. It has been such a blessing and relief having access to this course and Erin is a wonderful instructor! I highly recommend finding a way of building somatics into your life! Anyone can do this!!

Pain Free living.
"I'm so happy to have found Erin! I had been experiencing nerve issues for months that left me unable to use my hands fully without intense pain. After trying numerous things without much success, I came across Erin's functional fitness class. I was really interested in seeing how somatic movements could help alleviate some of the pain. A few weeks in I was already noticing a huge difference. By the end of the first 6 week session, the pain was almost gone and I was able to get back to doing the things I love like making jewelry. I also now have a much better understanding of how I'm moving and holding my body throughout the day and what adjustments to make.
I highly recommend not only the Functional Fitness class, but any class with Erin! She is knowledgeable, kind, welcoming and quickly makes you feel right at home. I look forward to class every Saturday morning!”
