Somatics is not a quick fix.
It’s a new way of Being.
Life can be hard and there are many reasons why we end up with tighter muscles, restricted movement and pain. As we endure life, we get stuck in the habits that have helped us push through it’s challenges.
Increased stiffness, discomfort and pain as well as depression, anxiety, and PTSD are all signs that our being, or soma, has wandered away from a sense of balance and ease.
How we feel may seem out of our control, but it is our habits - those of our nervous system - that directly influence our experience in our bodies.
Habits are automated responses created by our brain so it doesn’t have to consciously think about every single thing we do. Our brain habituates how we think and how we move. Many habits started from functional and necessary responses that helped us endure earlier circumstances (injury, trauma etc). While useful then, in the present moment these habits may become dysfunctional and work against our wellbeing.
Through a somatic practice you can learn to tap into your brain’s capacity for self-awareness. With this powerful skill you can explore your habits, unwind them and rebuild new ones that support ease and healthy movement.
